Although there are a multitude of parts and components in your truck’s air conditioning and heating system, the AC refrigerant makes it possible for the HVAC system to either cool air in the passenger cabin. Most heavy duty applications continue use R-134a refrigerant for their conditoining needs and R-404A for their refrigerated cargo needs.
However, over the past few years the automotive market has changed over to a newer refrigernat class called HFOs for their needs, specifically R-1234yf refrigerant. While heavy duty is lagging behind this change it will be coming in the future.
